Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree from the department of English literature. Mitchell was employed as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. She joined the CBS subsidiary WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. Then she joined NBC News Washington two years later as a general reporter. 1981 she started covering the White House, and in 1988, she was promoted to chief congressional Correspondent. Mitchell was named as the head White House correspondent by NBC News in 1992. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV program Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. Mitchell was a panelist during the 1988 presidential debates between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 to recognize her efforts in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to cover White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure in office from 1981 to 1988. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran-Contra scandal as well as budget tax reforms and the arms control. She traveled with Ronald Reagan many times to attend summits and discuss matters such as and the Iran Contra scandal.
